RAW In A Nutshell: Monster Loose In The United Kingdom

Hello again everyone! Hot off the heels of Crown Jewel, the RAW brand arrives in London, where there really are some crown jewels. And with all that happened in Saudi Arabia, this edition of RAW is going to be good. We will get the latest for Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose. We will surely hear from a ticked off Dolph Ziggler. And, we are bound to have a monster loose in the United Kingdom, as Braun Strowman seeks revenge against Baron Corbin for what transpired on Friday. And, if that weren’t enough, we have Survivor Series hype ramping up, with the show just around the corner. The time for chatting is over, it’s time to crack open this Nutshell!

Best Match of the night:

Drew McIntyre versus Kurt Angle. A match deserving of the main event slot, it was satisfying and should be a match for McIntyre to build off of. He has the look of a future champion, and a win like this can go a long way toward getting him there.

Worst match of the night:

Jinder Mahal and Apollo  Crews. If we go simply off of crowd reaction, they hated this match. Crowd, which was electric most of the evening, was not interested in this one.

Crowd Chants of the Night:

Not going to call out the chants, but instead will tip my cap to the fans of the United Kingdom. Once again, an amazing crowd. Plenty of singing along and cheering and you could tell the fans loved being there and experiencing RAW.

Star of the Night

This one is all for the guy who got himself a signature win, Drew McIntyre

Spot of the Night:

Bet you never expected to see an Angle Slam or an ankle lock out of Drew McIntyre, did you?

Jobber of the Night:

Can I get a hand for the fake security that surrounded the ring for Baron Corbin? Because that sad bunch absolutely got to do the job tonight

Upset of the Night:

Nothing to report here.

Holy Sh** Moment of the Night:

We will go for a men’s and women’s edition here tonight.

For the men, that was a massive and shocking win for Drew McIntyre. Since he won the NXT belt upon his return to the company, you got the sense that he was poised for a better run the second time through the company. Beating Kurt Angle, in the main event, and with Angle’s own move? That is a statement if ever there was one.

And then for the women, we go to Nia Jax and Tamina. For the last few weeks these two women have been at odds with one another. Tonight, Tamina came out after Nia Jax had defeated Ember Moon. Instead of going after Nia Jax, Tamina attacked Ember Moon. Rather than save Moon, Jax attacked and teamed up with Tamina. This pairs up another couple of women, and seeing this move surely screams “women’s tag belts”

Botch of the night:

Could have been just really well played, but it sure looked like Kurt spit out a tooth after he received that opening headbutt to the face

Noteworthy Moment:

Considering Ambrose attacked Rollins right after they won the tag team titles a couple weeks ago, anyone who was paying attention figured it was just a matter of time before WWE did something about that. Tonight they did, as Authors of Pain claimed their first WWE main roster gold.

Alexa Bliss has been named RAW’s Survivor Series captain for the women’s team. Next week we find out who she has chosen for her team.

Stephanie McMahon returns to RAW television next week.

Also next week, Brock Lesnar, newly minted Universal Champion, returns to RAW.

Overall lowlights:

As talented or gifted as guys like Bobby Lashley and Apollo Crews are, it’s disappointing to hear how they get little to no crowd response.

Overall highlights:

These UK shows serve as yet another reminder that WWE needs to bring a major show to the country. If they can do the big Saudi shows or Super Show-Down, then WWE needs to reward these crazy awesome fans with a big show.

After the final bell:

Tonight was just the start, with WWE beginning to set the table for Survivor Series. Next week should go a long way toward finishing off the hype for the November PPV
