To anyone who’s even been slightly paying attention, it’s painfully obvious that the left is trying very hard to push their ideas about gender and sexism on everyone who will, or even won’t listen. Recently, their need for control has gotten so out of hand that they’re taking away gender specific kids’ meal toys for children.

“Lawmakers in Michigan are so worried about the ill effects of ‘sexism’ on children that they’ve proposed a law leaning on restaurants like McDonalds to cease offering ‘gender specific’ toys inside their kids’ meals,” reports The Daily Wire.

You’ve got to be kidding me.

And it gets worse.

According to the Detroit Free Press, more than a dozen legislators are getting behind this proposal asking “food establishments and franchises to stop gender classification of kids’ meal toys.”

These lawmakers are worried children who receive toys in their Happy Meals intended specifically for boys, like a Transformer “boy toy,” or girls, like a Hello Kitty “girl toy,” might somehow scar these kids due to “sexism.”

As you read the next part, remember this a full-grown adult with presumably some life experience that wrote it.

“This is a significant issue as billions of these meals are sold every year and this practice can influence and limit children’s imaginations and interests by promoting some toys as only suitable for girls and others only for boys,” the law’s text reads, adding its sponsors hope to “highlight the harmful effects of gender-classified toys.”

We don’t need a law to protect children from toys

If one believes that toys marketed specifically to each gender are harmful, the idea that we need a law to prevent this is beyond absurd. It’s the nanny state on steroids.

Isn’t it the left who’s always saying you can’t legislate morality. Well, they are sure trying to do that here.

But anyone who has ever had children of the male and female variety can tell you that boys and girls are indeed different, and no amount of political correctness is ever going to change that!

If for some reason a boy wants to play with his sister’s Hello Kitty Happy Meal toy, or a little girl wants to try out her brother’s Transformer, by all means, let kids be kids and let their imaginations run wild. No one wants to stop this.

But there’s also nothing wrong with giving a little boy a toy he might like more, given what we know about young boys, and there’s nothing wrong with giving a little girl a toy she might enjoy more, given what we know about young females.

This is not rocket science. No amount of political correctness in the world is going to overturn these basic truisms about the sexes.

And if this basic concept is too controversial for some, Lord help us.
