brady bunch returns

Here’s the story…

“TV siblings Barry Williams (Greg), Maureen McCormick (Marcia), Christopher Knight (Peter), Eve Plumb (Jan), Mike Lookinland (Bobby) and Susan Olsen (Cindy) met up for the first time in 15 years on Thursday to kick off HGTV’s new renovation series, A Very Brady Renovation,” reports People.

Is there a more iconic house in television history than the Brady home? A place where viewers intimately knew or felt like they knew, what the interior layout was? The open kitchen attached to the playroom? The kids’ rooms upstairs? Mike Brady’s office downstairs? The den?

Everyone knows the Brady house–and it’s getting restored.

The Brady Bunch is back! The Brady house is back!

“On the new series, which will debut in 2019 and feature special celebrity guests, the famous house that served as the facade of the Brady family home on the beloved sitcom from 1969 to 1974 will be restored inside and out in full 1970s style,” People notes.

Many Brady fans don’t realize that the facade of the home on the show was different than the television set we remember as the interior. We can assume that the reunited Brady kids will try to reconcile this.

HGTV’s senior vice president Loren Ruch promises as much with the new show. “What’s so exciting about this project is that we are creating one of the most iconic homes from many of our viewers’ childhoods,” Ruch said in a statement. “It will be the first time in history that the house from all of our memories will be created in a real brick and mortar location. It is certain to be a trip down memory lane.”

As a side note, though HGTV purchased the home in August for $3.5 million, they outbid a reportedly “heartbroken” Lance Bass of NSYNC fame. Bass had also vowed to restore the inside to match the old TV set.

Now, Mr. Bass will just have to watch the show with the rest of us.
