FedEx, Wal-Mart, and the WWE are doing something really wonderful for members of the U.S. military this holiday season.

FedEx: Trees for Troops

Trees for Troops is celebrating its 14th year of giving farm-grown trees to military families. FedEx partners with Trees for Troops and ships Christmas trees to service members overseas and 65 military bases in the U.S.  Over the past 10 years, FedEx drivers have driven more than 560,000 miles to deliver trees for this special program.

“The Trees For Troops program is about more than just delivering trees—we are delivering a piece of the Christmas spirit to our U.S. military and their families,’ said Mike Ducker, president and CEO of FedEx Freight.”

“To be able to say we’ve helped bring more than 200,000 trees to so many of our heroes is an honor, and it shows our appreciation for the sacrifice these men and women and their families have made for our country,” Ducker added.

Wal-Mart: Holiday Sing to Salute Military Families

Discount retail giant Wal-Mart is also stepping up to support military families this Christmas with its “Holiday Sing to Salute Military Families” initiative.

“On Giving Tuesday, Dec. 1, Walmart is kicking off the campaign with a $500,000 donation to Fisher House Foundation,” reads Wal-Mart’s website.

“For the past 25 years, Fisher Houses have provided a home-away-from-home for military and veterans’ families whose loved ones are in a nearby military or veteran hospital. The donation will be distributed among more than 60 U.S.-based Fisher Houses for home improvements and holiday festivities, including gifts for families and visits from Santa.”

Wal-Mart is encouraging the public to share holiday songs with military families via social media. Doing so will make the company donate to the Fisher House program.

“For each post published on a public Instagram, Twitter or YouTube account with the hashtag #Sing2Salute during the campaign, Walmart will donate $100, up to $1 million, to Fisher House Foundation.” the company says. “The goal is to help Fisher House Foundation fund a full year of lodging for military families staying at Fisher Houses on U.S. military bases.”

Wal-Mart has done this each holiday season for a number of years.

WWE: Tribute to the Troops

For 13 years, the stars of World Wrestling Entertainment have gone overseas and performed at domestic bases to entertain the men and women serving in the U.S. military with their annual “Tribute to the Troops” show.

“What a pleasure it was to bring smiles to the faces of those who sacrifice so much for our freedom at the 15th annual WWE Tribute to the Troops,” said WWE CEO Vince McMahon of last year’s show. “I hope you and your families enjoyed @WWE doing what we do best.”

The show usually airs in mid-December on the USA Network.

The world’s biggest pro wrestling company has been a huge advocate for U.S. military members for many years, including their longstanding policy of offering free tickets to their events for service men and women.
