Smackdown Commissioner Shane McMahon comes out and says usually in these case the match never happens. But this match is happening… right now.

Back again and Styles is working on Bryan’s leg. Styles goes for a moonsault-scorpion death drop but Bryan sees it coming and counters with a throw. Then Bryan lands the Yes Kicks. He starts a “Yes” chant with the crowd and then charges in for the Running Knee but Styles lands a quick counter-dropkick. Styles goes for the Phenomenal Forearm but Bryan pushes him off balance and then goes for a belly-to-back superplex. Styles turns it in midair to counter. Commercial.

Back again and Bryan sinks in the Yes Lock. Styles escapes and drops Bryan hard on the outside on his injured knee. Styles continues his assault but then Bryan whips Styles into the steel ring-steps. In the ring now and Bryan tries to get fired up. He charges and nails Styles with some dropkicks in the corner and then goes for a Frankensteiner. Styles blocks and looks for the Styles Clash off the turnbuckle but Bryan fights hard and gets the Frankensteiner over after all.

Bryan keeps the pressure on, but Styles finds an opening to wrench on Bryan’s leg and halt his momentum. Styles goes for a Phenomenal Forearm but Bryan counters with a slam into an armbar. Styles fights the pain and manages to shift position, but Bryan transitions into the triangle choke. Styles somehow shifts their position into a Styles Clash and then slaps on the Calf Crusher. Bryan fights as long as he can but is forced to submit to the pain.

Winner: AJ Styles (c)

After the match, the two men shake hands and hug in a show of respect for one another. But suddenly Samoa Joe runs in and attacks Styles from behind and Bryan is bumped out of the ring in the process. Joe puts Styles in the Coquina Clutch and chokes him out until Bryan runs in to Styles’ rescue. Joe attacks Bryan’s leg and puts him in the Coquina Clutch as well. Joe holds the title belt over his head, as his 2 victims lay battered on the mat before him.
