If you were hoping that the SBG vs. Eagles MMA showdown, via Artem Lobov vs. Zubaira Tukhugov, would still take place at UFC Moncton, well, it appears you’re out of luck.

The featherweights were supposed to battle at the October 27th event, but due to Tukhugov’s reported involvement in the UFC 229, post-fight brawl, his removal from the roster is expected. More recently, ESPN’s Ariel Helwani is reporting that Michael Johnson is the front runner, as a replacement opponent for Lobov.

The news comes not long after Lobov himself asked that Tukhugov not be removed from the bout, and a threat from Khabib Nurmagomedov, that if his teammate is cut, he’s also walking from the UFC.

Johnson is coming off a split decision win over Andre Fili in August, which snapped a three fight, losing skid.

Lobov hasn’t competed since last October when he lost via UD to Fili. Conor McGregor’s teammate is 2-3 in his last 5 bouts.
