Well, now even UFC 231 has a main event, as the promotion has made Max Holloway vs. Brian Ortega for the featherweight title official.
The event takes place December 8 from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Holloway hasn’t lost since 2013, scoring wins over the likes of Cub Swanson, Charles Oliveira, Ricardo Lamas, Anthony Pettis and Jose Aldo. This past December, he earned a second consecutive victory over Aldo, improving to 19-3 overall.
Ortega (14-0) was scheduled to challenge Holloway for the belt earlier this year, but the champion was pulled due to concussion-like symptoms found during fight week. He earned his title shot with a March knockout of Frankie Edgar, becoming the first fighter to finish the former champion.
Several other fights have been added to the card including Jimi Manuwa vs. Thiago Santos and Elias Theodorou vs. Eryk Anders.
