Crown Jewel Tickets Postponed After Washington Post Journalist Killed

The problems surrounding Crown Jewel continues. The tickets were set to go on sale today, but the date has now pushed to November 2. The new on sale date makes little sense as the show is set to take place that same day.

Earlier today, the Saudi Arabian government confirmed that Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi was killed. They said it involved a fist fight and did not provided further details. His body is yet to be retrieved, with the country of Turkey saying that it was dismembered. Five high-ranking officials were dismissed and 18 others have been detained according to the Saudi Arabian government.

WWE has been facing pressure from top United State Senators and even their own wrestlers do not want to make the trip to Saudi Arabia. Before Khashoggi’s death was confirmed, WWE still planned on moving forward with the show.  Their marquee match features Shawn Michaels ending his eight year retirement to reform DX alongside Triple H. They will battle the Brother of Destruction (Undertaker & Kane). Also, WWE Champion AJ Styles vs. Daniel Bryan has already been confirmed.

Now that Khashoggi’s death has been confirmed, this might cause the WWE change their direction. Some want the event to continue, but in another country. At this point, moving the show would cause WWE to lose several million dollars.

The Donald Trump administration has not taken action against Saudi Arabia, but they will need to address the matter as tensions continue to rise. Since news broke about the mounting pressure to remove the show from Saudi Arabia, WWE has remained mostly silent. Last week, they issued a short statement basically confirming they were closely monitoring the situation. If the show is moved to another location or completely cancelled, WWE is running out of time to make an announcement with three weeks until the card.
