Liberal Activists Attack Weight Watchers for Name Change

In this era of intense political correctness, people are easily offended. Even dieting is under attack for not being “inclusive” for people who are overweight. Weight Watchers has clearly been the victim of this PC nonsense and has recently announced their name change.

Weight Watchers will now be known as WW and will maintain its well-regarded point system. The company states its focus is on wellness rather than weight loss. The goal is not a short-term diet but a healthy lifestyle that can be maintained as the tweeted announcement in the video below explains.

This would lead many people to believe it would satisfy the outrage patrol of the politically correct left, but it didn’t. Instead, it put a target on WW for co-opting body-positive language under the guise of dieting. These social justice warriors believe this is a newer and dirtier version diet culture as it is dieting disguised as wellness.

It’s well known that being overweight can lead to health problems. It puts a strain on joints, the heart, and other organs and has become one of the leading causes of death in the United States. Finding solutions for people who want to attain or maintain a healthy weight is not something to be ashamed of, but the political correctness police are out targeting anyone and anything that might be considered offensive – including people who want to improve their health.

To these outraged folks, teaching people methods to eat better is considered shaming them, never mind that these are programs that are completely voluntary. To these overly sensitive types, showing people how to improve their lives is hurtful to those who don’t want to change. It’s important to love who you are, but if you are looking to improve your health or appearance and need help from a company like WW, that should be applauded.

There are plenty of people who will never be satisfied. Attacking Weight Watchers for a name change is absurd. Unless they are financially invested in the company and are concerned about their return on investment, the outrage is ridiculous. If you don’t like WW, don’t join and stop being offended!
