If We Can Have Chuck Liddell-Tito Ortiz 3, What Else Is Out There?

So Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz will meet for a third time later this year, over 14 years after their first bout.

The idea of putting Liddell and Ortiz together – despite “The Iceman” not having fought since 2010 – has been seen with mixed reviews.

How can a fighter, eight years removed from his last bout, coming off three consecutive knockout defeats, even be cleared to compete? How about Ortiz, who has recovered from countless surgeries to continue his own career?

Regardless of how you view it, the idea of putting past greats against one another is always sure to spark conversation.

So, if you were given the chance to put two fighters together, who would you pair up with one another?

A rematch between Randy Couture and Brock Lesnar?

Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen?

Georges St-Pierre vs. Matt Hughes?

Conor McGregor vs. Nick Diaz?

The list is an endless one, but definitely a fun one to come up with.

In the world of sports, it has always been a main talking point to discuss how athlete/team A would compare to athlete/team B. LeBron James vs. Michael Jordan. Tom Brady vs. Joe Montana.

But with MMA still being relatively new in terms of generation gaps, it is still a little simpler to do.

As time continues, though, trying to figure out how a wrestler like Couture or Lesnar would compare to someone such as Bellator prospect Aaron Pico or current UFC champion Henry Cejudo will get more and more difficult. Both Pico and Cejudo are world-class wrestlers, but both are also high-level boxers.

And like more and more fighters entering into the sport on a daily basis, they are becoming well-rounded athletes. Striking, grappling, wrestling, submission; these guys now can do it all.

It sure will be fun when 20 years from now we are having these very same arguments.
