Bill Cosby – The First Celebrity to Face Sentencing in the #MeToo Era

Bill Cosby could very well be greeted with a big thud as his fall from grace enters its final stage this week. He will finally receive his sentence for the three charges in his sexual assault criminal case. The man formerly known as America’s Dad is facing 10 years in prison on each of the three cases. Given his age of 81, it’s possible that Cosby will die behind bars. That all depends on the what type of sentence he is given.

While members of the Hollywood elite have long lectured America on treating women properly, many were aware of Cosby’s reputation for drugging women. Now, Cosby will be the first celebrity to be sentenced in the #MeToo era for crimes against women. Prosecutors are seeking that Cosby is taken in by authorities immediately if he is sentenced to jail rather than giving him time to say his goodbyes and report to jail at a later time.

Cosby arrived at court early Monday for his sentencing. The hearing may not conclude until Tuesday but will end with the disgraced comedian finally learning his fate for his crime of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand.

Ironically, even though Hollywood claims to take the treatment of women seriously, Cosby’s star still remains on the Hollywood Walk of Fame even though he was found guilty in April. After almost half a year has passed, a petition is expected to be filed today to remove the star.

Hollywood casting couch rumors have long been openly spoken about. Cosby took things even further than that by using drugs to make his victim(s) even more vulnerable. For his crimes, he very well might spend his final years locked away in a jail cell. This man who once entertained us as an ultimate dad proves that what we see on television is nothing but a packaged and polished image.
