Bill Cosby Sentence Rendered

Bill Cosby’s day of reckoning has finally come. Earlier this year, he was found guilty of drugging and sexually assaulting Temple University women’s basketball administrator Andrea Constand at his Philadelphia home. Today he learned that he will be locked up behind bars for three to 10 years. After three years, he is eligible for parole, but there is no guarantee. The television icon must also cover the cost of prosecution.

This means the 81-year-old Cosby may spend the final days of his life in a jail cell.

Prior to delivering the actual sentence, Montgomery County Judge Steven O’Neill labeled Cosby a sexual predator. This will require the man formerly considered “America’s Dad” to undergo monthly counseling for the rest of his life. He will also have to report to authorities quarterly and be put on a sexual predator list after he serves his jail sentence.

Cosby’s attorneys pleaded for mercy claiming their predatorial client was legally blind and elderly and wouldn’t fair well in jail. They asked for house arrest instead. While Cosby sought mercy, he didn’t extend any to Constand when he drugged and assaulted her. He also refused when given the opportunity to speak before sentencing.

The assault on Constand took place in 2004. Since she went public, over 60 women have claimed to have been assaulted by the legendary comic. The attack on Constand fell within the statute of limitations, making her case the only one where criminal charges could be pursued against the former Jello Pudding Pop spokesman.

This is a huge fall from grace for the man who was viewed as a TV icon. He was revered by millions for his approach to parenting and education but apparently, he lived a double life where he was driven by his determination to drug and sexually assault women. While many celebrities philander around on their spouses, that wasn’t exactly Cosby’s cup of tea. He exerted complete control over women by rendering them incapacitated so they couldn’t object or consent to his advances. This is the true mark of evil.

In addition, Cosby has been unapologetic and uncooperative throughout the trial.

Even though Cosby has not taken responsibility for his actions, he will have plenty of time to think about them as he rots behind bars. This case asserts that nobody is above the law. Bill Cosby committed a heinous act and while justice has long been delayed, it has finally been served.

A petition was submitted on Monday to remove Cosby’s star from the Hollywood Walk of Fame. A petition to revoke his Presidential Medal of Freedom is also circulating. Click here to add your name. A sexual predator does not deserve this honor.
