Age is just a number folks. With advances in health and nutrition wrestlers are working at a higher level further into their career. As Jack Hunter pointed out, 40 is the new 30 in wrestling. Older stars are showing that they can still hang with the young kids. And that’s not just in WWE; some wrestling legends are pushing 60 and still competing. Heck, Terry Funk will even do a match every now and again, and a heart-attack didn’t stop Jerry Lawler from wrestling nearly every weekend. Another wrestling legend is doing more than just wrestling a few showcase matches. Kevin Nash is fighting for and winning titles!

Yes, Kevin Nash, torn quads and all, is the new Big Time Wrestling champion. While this isn’t WWE or even WCW, it is still amazing that a guy who has been through so many injuries is still able to walk, much less wrestle.

Here’s footage of the match

Other “Older” Champions

Big Sexy Kev isn’t the first old timer to when a title in the twilight of his career. In fact, it is more common than you think. Goldberg, the 3rd ever WWE Universial Champion won the title from Kevin Owens at 48. Triple H won the WWE Title at 46. Terry Funk, through various retirements, won the ECW title well into his 50s. Ric Flair won the Intercontinental title for the first time at 56. Age is just a number. Wrestlers are working harder, SMARTER and longer than ever before. Expect more high-profile names to continue working at a high level well into their 50s and 60s.

Congrats Big Sexy!
