Cheerleaders Who Knelt During Last Year’s Anthem Got Some Bad News

Four Georgia cheerleaders who were cut from the squad after kneeling during the National Anthem are crying foul after failing to return this year.

Last year, some Kennesaw State cheerleaders decided to join Colin Kaepernick’s protest by taking a knee while their fellow cheerleaders stood. However, the new school year has brought new recruits the school is claiming have more skill that most of those who took a knee. Now, four of the five returning protestors will be watching football games from the stands rather than the sidelines.

One of the cheerleaders is taking her battle to get back on the squad to the media. While she took a very public stance while kneeling last year, now she is refusing to show her face.

“[I know] it played a role, just because I know my skills, and I had the skills two years prior to that,” the begrudged former cheerleader told the local news.

However, students at the university are not happy to hear about the stain these ex-cheerleaders are leaving on their beloved school’s reputation. One Twitter user below was very offended.

But, being on a team is not an automatic given from year to year. It is determined by the caliber of those trying out. Thirty-three who tried out for the cheerleading squad didn’t make the cut. That includes seven from last’s season’s roster, so there were three girls cut who didn’t protest during the National Anthem.

“Similar to all KSU sports teams, multi-year spots on rosters are not guaranteed, and all student-athletes must earn their position on a team,” Kennesaw State’s Athletic Department said in a statement about the controversy.

Entitled college students don’t understand that they aren’t entitled to the be on the team every year. They will quickly find out after they graduate that this isn’t how the real world works. Trophies aren’t just handed out for participating.

More information on these protestors getting cut from the squad is in the video below.

Video of them kneeling last season is here.

Perhaps these protestors were seeking some attention to make up for their lack of skill. Colin Kaepernick also had some struggling numbers that aren’t helping his cause to return to the NFL. He’s a liability and a half and like this cheerleader claiming discrimination, he just can’t handle the fact that it’s just not going to work out.
