Bill Murray apparently didn’t appreciate a photographer taking pictures of him at a Martha’s Vineyard restaurant. He is being accused of slamming the photographer against the door. In what sounds like a skit from his Saturday Night Live days, the funnyman also allegedly poured water on the photographer and his equipment.
To make things stranger, the photographer is the brother of singer Carly Simon. Peter Simon claims he was at Lola’s in Oaks Bluff to take pictures of a band for “The Martha’s Vineyard’s Times.” He claims when he got off the dance floor to look at the pictures, he was body slammed against a door and sworn at and threatened. Simon claims he didn’t recognize the famous actor at first.
Ironically Simon asked Murray, “Do you know who I am?” The comedian’s reply matched the question. “Do you know who I am?” Murray shot back.
“He looked like he was ready to strangle me,” Carly Simon’s brother said. “He treated me like the scum of the earth.”
Despite this, Simon continued taking pictures around the restaurant. That’s when he claims Murray dumped water on him. Katherine Domitrovich, who owns Lola’s, sided with Murray against the intrusive photographer. She stated that Simon had “no business photographing anyone in the restaurant and was generally annoying.”

The Groundhog Day actor was described as being “visibly upset” when speaking with police after the incident. He claimed Simon was “taking pictures of him and harassing him while he was quietly minding his business.”
Nobody has been charged in the incident, but given that the restaurant owner was siding with Murray, Simon might want to simmer down and put his camera away rather than stalk celebrities. As the brother of a celebrity, he should know not to act like an idiot in the presence of one.
Bill Murray usually doesn’t have a problem speaking his mind, so it’s not a shock that he would stand up for himself in this situation. Watch the video below to see a funny clip of him taking on a “heckler.”
