Jane Fonda’s ‘Apology’ About Vietnam Has Decent Americans FURIOUS

Millions of Americans have never forgotten the way that Hollywood star Jane Fonda betrayed her country during the Vietnam War. This past week, Fonda offered what can only be described as a half-hearted apology for the way she betrayed American troops during this war.

The Daily Caller reported that Fonda was appearing at a Television Critics Association panel discussion on her upcoming HBO documentary “Jane Fonda in Five Acts” when she addressed what happened during the Vietnam War by saying that she was sorry for being “thoughtless enough to sit down on that gun.”

Fonda was referring to a photograph of her sitting on an anti-aircraft gun as she talked with the North Vietnamese in 1972 before the war had ended. The gun that she was sitting on was undoubtedly used to shoot down American aircrafts and therefore kill American troops.

“I am just so sorry that I was thoughtless enough to sit down on that gun at that time,” Fonda said. “The message that sends to the guys that were there and their families, it’s horrible for me to think about that.”

While Fonda apologized for taking part in this image, she added that she has no regrets about visiting North Vietnam, claiming that she did so after speaking with disillusioned American troops in France.

“I didn’t like it that there were men in France that knew better than I did. The coin shifted. I said, ‘I feel betrayed by this country’s leadership. We’ve been lied to, and I want to do anything I can to expose that,'” Fonda said.

While we are glad that Fonda is at least apologizing for that vile photo, it’s pathetic that she still stands by all the other anti-American moves she made during the war. Many Twitter users agreed that Fonda has many more apologies to make before she can be forgiven:

Will you forgive Jane Fonda for what she did in Vietnam?

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
