WARNING: Deadly Rattlesnake Alert For Summer

An Arizona family got a big shock when they found a rattlesnake taking refuge in one of their pool noodles. Now, authorities are warning others to take precautions so this doesn’t happen again.

When the noodle was put in the pool, the rattlesnake swam out. Thankfully, nobody was bitten but the snake did leave more surprises inside the noodle. The venomous snake was using the noodle as a nest for her babies.

This story could have had a catastrophic ending. Now, the Buckeye Arizona Fire Department is getting out the word to put your noodles away! A pool noodle alert was issued on Facebook.

“After some research, we found that there have been reports of snakes… actually laying their eggs inside the pool noodle itself or around pool noodles that have been left outdoors near bushes or block fences,” the fire department shared they later clarified that since rattlesnakes do not lay eggs, such incidents would have involved other types of snakes. The baby rattlesnakes in this family’s noodles must have crawled in themselves, or else the mother gave birth to them there.”

If you do encounter a rattlesnake, the firefighters suggest staying still rather than running away, which will alert and scare the snake.

“If you come into contact with a rattlesnake, or any other type of snake, stay calm,” the fire department advised in their warning post. “One of the worst things you can do when coming across a rattlesnake is to start panicking. Snakes rely on vibrations in the ground to determine where you are. If you start moving fast and abruptly, you’ll only scare the snake more,” the department wrote on Facebook.

It’s hard to imagine something taking refuge in such a small place, but a pool noodle does offer enough room for some snakes. It’s a bonus if the noodle is damp inside. Video of a non-poisonous snake being found in another noodle is below.
