Maryse Becomes A US Citizen!

Everyone knows Maryse is Canadian, but not anymore! Maryse has officially become a US citizen. Let us celebrate her new US citizenship! So, if you are not yet familiar with Maryse and her extensive wrestling history, be sure to read our overview below!

Maryse Mizanin announced her US citizenship status on Instagram on June 27, 2018. She celebrated with a picture of herself holding a small American flag. Well, all I have to say is congratulations Maryse! I’m very happy for you.

Who Is Maryse?

Maryse Ouellet, also known as Maryse Mizanin (since she is married to WWE superstar The Miz), is Canadian – American wrestler and wrestling manager. Aside from her wrestling career, she also is a businesswoman, glamour model, and actress.

Unlike most female wrestlers these days, Maryse did not start her career in the indies. Instead, she started immediately in the WWE. She tried out for the 2006 show Diva Search but was the second contestant to be eliminated. She was invited to observe workouts at the WWE training facility in Ohio. She would sign her developmental contract in 2007.

Maryse spent time on SmackDown Live in the beginning of her career alongside other major names such as Michelle McCool and Eve Torres. Despite being talented this was an awkward time for female wrestlers. Female wrestlers had much less television time than their male counterparts. Despite this, Maryse built an incredible career for herself.

Maryse is a 2-time WWE Divas Champion. She also won the Divas Championship Tournament in 2010. In addition to that, Maryse is the third longest reigning Divas champion!

Other Projects Involving Maryse

Everyone who has watched five minutes of Total Divas knows that Maryse is a smart businesswoman. Aside from wrestling, she tries her hand at many different things, which has certainly paid off for herself and her husband the Miz.

In 2013, Maryse started another career as a real estate agent. She spent an entire year getting her license. She often spends time with her husband the Miz looking for properties to redecorate and flip.

Maryse and the Miz also have their own reality series, which is no surprise after how popular the pair appeared on Total Divas. Now, they have Miz & Mrs, a spin-off from Total Divas. The show will follow the personal lives of the Miz and Maryse and will be shown on USA Network.

Despite being extremely busy already, Maryse took a break from wrestling; this to give birth to her daughter Monroe Sky on March 27, 2018. It seems there is no stopping Maryse when it comes to good news.
