Fast-rising NXT star Velveteen Dream had his most memorable entrance to date at NXT Takeover Chicago last Saturday when he came out “Hollywood” Hulk Hogan style.

Though Velveteen Dream lost to Ricochet that night–considered by many fans the best match of the night along with Johnny Gargano vs. Tommaso Ciampa–no one will soon forget the Dream’s ode to the Hulkster.

Including the Hulkster.

Hogan tweeted in response to Uproxx Sports writer Robby Kalland Thursday night:

Velveteen Dream in turn made it clear he’s not interested:

Guess it didn’t hurt for Hogan to ask?

Velveteen Dream Doesn’t Need “Hollywood”

Hogan is reportedly on increasingly better terms with WWE these days after being fired and scrubbed from the website after recorded racist comments made by the Hulkster came to light in 2015. WWE legend Booker T said last month that he believes Hogan should be brought back and that the controversy should not define his legacy. “Everybody deserves a second chance,” said Booker T. “It’s what life is all about.” Others disagree.

But if Hogan does return, it obviously won’t be as Velveteen Dream’s manager.

Nor does the Dream appear to need that kind of rub from a legend, even one of Hogan’s stature. The 22-year-old DC native has quickly become one of the most popular stars on the NXT roster not only because of his superb in-right work–on full display in his Takeover match with Ricochet–but his unmissable charisma and creativity.

Velveteen Dream is getting himself over a big way. Giving his review of NXT Takeover Chicago II on his latest podcast, announcing legend Jim Ross said, “I loved the Ricochet-Velveteen Dream match. Two big time players.”

Ross then explained how he believes Dream goes out of his way to succeed:

“There is just seemingly no limit to the charisma and character development of Velveteen Dream, which is a lot of his doing. He’s taken ownership. He’s taken proprietorship, and responsibility for his TV persona. The kid’s not just showing up seeing what he has to do, he’s gonna show up with some ideas and a new spin here and there.”

“I’ve always been high on Ricochet,” Ross added. “WWE has two phenomenal players in the upcoming days.”

No less a superstar than John Cena has also been singing Velveteen Dream’s praises as of late, even calling the NXT star “The One” last month. Cena said in late May:

“YOU KNOW HOW IN THE STAR WARS MOVIES THE OLD JEDIS CAN LOOK AT THE ROOKIE JEDIS AND BE LIKE, ‘I THINK THAT’S THE ONE.’ I KINDA HAVE A WEIRD, ODD MIDICHLORIAN FEELING ABOUT VELVETEEN DREAM.  I THINK THERE’S SOMETHING SPECIAL THERE.”

Velveteen Dream responded to Cena, “Whenever he wants. The DREAM is Here. The. DREAM. Is. Here!”

No doubt, a Cena-Dream match would indeed be a dream match for so many WWE fans (Sorry, there’s really no way to write that sentence without being redundant).

Maybe Hulk Hogan could lobby to be the guest referee?
