Did CM Punk Win At UFC 225? + Coverage From The Match

CM Punk’s first trip inside the UFC octagon didn’t go as he wanted; tapping out halfway through round one against Micky Gall. In his second performance at UFC 225, Punk was defeated by Mike Jackson after losing a unanimous decision following three rounds. All three judges scored the fight 30-26, which is basically a blow out.

Jackson started the fight landing strikes and busting Punk’s nose. A takedown from Punk gets the Chicago crowd to pop for the final big spot of the first round. In the second, Jackson stuns Punk with a punch and slams him onto the canvas. Some showboating from Jackson and the crowd boos. Some big elbows from Jackson on top and Punk can’t get off the canvas. We head to round three and Punk is busted up. Jackson could have finished this in round two, instead of showboating as he’s likely ahead in the fight. Much of the same from Jackson for the last five minutes. We go to the judges, who all score for Jackson

Punk becomes 0-2. The former WWE Champion’s only two MMA fights have taken place in the UFC.  Jackson is now 1-1, with his loss oddly enough coming from Gall in quick fashion.

It’s been a crazy week for Punk. Only days ago, he and Colt Cabana won the court case against WWE’s doctor Chris Amann. Punk has since restated he’s done with pro wresting.

UFC 225 came from Chicago, so there was major support for their hometown boy, Punk. We will have to see if Punk fights again under the UFC banner. UFC President Dana White stated Punk needed to greatly improve after his first loss if he wanted to compete for the top MMA promotion for a decent chunk of change.

Punk did show some improvement from his first fight, but did appear to tire-out.

Do you think Punk is done with the UFC and MMA?
