The Weirdest Tag Teams In WWE History

There have been many beloved, forgettable, and strange tag teams in the long, storied history of WWE. Here are five that belong in the last category.

Braun Strowman and Nicholas

Honestly, does it get any weirder than a tag team consisting of a Monster Among Men and a literal child? Braun Strowman left everyone scratching their heads when he picked an 11-year-old boy out of the crowd to be his tag team partner at WrestleMania – and then went on to win the Raw Tag Team Championship with him. Unfortunately, Strowman and Nicholas were forced to relinquish the titles the very next night, due to Nicholas’s previous obligations as a 7th grader. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he comes back to reclaim the titles he never lost in about six years or so.

Kane and Daniel Bryan

Everyone loved Team Hell No, but there’s no denying that Daniel Bryan and Kane were a mismatched pair. When they weren’t attending therapy with Dr. Shelby, they were at each other’s throats, but somehow they managed to pull together and become the WWE Tag Team Champions. These days, Bryan has made a triumphant return to the ring and Kane just became mayor of Knoxville, Tenn., but the WWE Universe will never forget when they put their differences aside and hugged it out in the ring.

Owen Hart and Yokozuna

Would you think to put Yokozuna and Owen Hart together? Well, WWE did at WrestleMania XI, where Yokozuna and Hart defeated The Smoking Gunns (Billy and Bart Gunn) to become the WWF Tag Team Champions after Yokozuna was revealed as Hart’s mystery partner. The team managed to hold on to the titles for 175 days before controversially dropping them to Two Dudes with Attitudes (Diesel and Shawn Michaels) at In Your House: Triple Header.

Stone Cold Steve Austin and Dude Love

Um, what? A beer-guzzling redneck and a peace-loving hippie are probably the last two people who should team up, but that’s precisely what Stone Cold Steve Austin and Mick Foley – a.k.a. Dude Love – did in 1997. Even stranger, Foley specifically created Dude Love to team with Austin after Austin’s original partner, Shawn Michaels, suffered an injury. Austin and Dude Love captured the WWF Tag Team Championship from Owen Hart and the British Bulldog but were forced to vacate after 55 days when Austin suffered a neck injury.

D-Von Dudley and Batista

Some wrestlers are known for teaming with one particular person. D-Von Dudley is one of those wrestlers – and Batista is NOT the person he’s known for teaming with. In 2002, the Dudley Boyz were separated in the WWE Draft, and D-Von began tagging with his protege: Deacon Batista. Thankfully, the team didn’t last long, and D-Von went back to Bubba Ray and Batista went on to bigger, better things.

What do you think about these strange tag teams? Do you remember them? Did you enjoy them while they lasted? Share your comments below!
