Liberals all over the country have turned on rapper Kanye West this week after he admitted to supporting President Donald Trump, and expressed some conservative thoughts. As the liberal backlash against West continues, conservative sitcom star Roseanne Barr has spoken out to defend him.
Fox News reported that Barr took to Twitter on Thursday to defend West’s claim that Barack Obama did nothing for Chicago, the city the rapper is from.
“Ppl (sic) do not want to hear the truth-that Chicago could be a better city for its citizens, but the establishment is corrupted,” Barr wrote.
Barr was referring to West’s tweet in which he wrote, “Obama was in office for eight years and nothing in Chicago changed.”
Barr knows all too well what it’s like to get heat from liberals for being a conservative. While talking to Jimmy Fallon on NBC’s “The Tonight Show” earlier this week, Barr was asked about the hate she’s gotten for supporting Trump.
“Oh yeah, people are mad about that. But you know, I don’t give a f—,” Barr told Fallon.
“I mean, everybody had to choose for themselves, according to their own conscience, who they felt was the lesser of two evils,” she said of the 2016 election.
Though we certainly do not agree with everything West has said this week, we still applaud him for not being afraid to defy the left by defending Trump and thinking critically about political ideas.
We need more celebrities to defend conservative values like Barr and West have so that all sides of the political spectrum are represented in the entertainment industry.
