This Is How It All Started For Former Model Melania Trump

Many people know Melania Trump was a model before becoming our First Lady, but they don’t know the story about her rise to the top of the fashion world.

She was born in 1970 as Melanija Knavs, but later was known as Melania Knauss. Growing up in Slovenia, it was evident to her family that she had the image of a model. Melania started modeling at the tender age of five. Her modeling career catapulted her out of Slovenia and eventually into the White House.

By age 16, Melania was being paid to model in advertisements. Her beauty was undeniable. She had a meteoric rise. She is just 17 years old in the photo below.

Just two years later, she signed a modeling contract with a Milan agency. At age 22, she was the runner-up in Jana Magazine’s Look of the Year competition.

In 1995, Melania left Europe and headed to New York. She was then managed by Metropolitan Model co-owner Paolo Zampolli. Her modeling career got her an introduction to her husband. Two years later, she met Donald Trump at Paolo’s party.

She continued gracing the covers of magazines after meeting Trump. In 2000, she was featured in Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit edition.

Now, that she is First Lady, her supermodel days are behind her. But, she is clearly still fashion conscious. Her elegance and style radiate with each outfit she wears.

After her husband was elected President, some designers like Tom Ford, and Marc Jacobs, who said, “I have no interest whatsoever in dressing Melania Trump. Personally, I’d rather put my energy into helping out those who will be hurt by [Donald] Trump and his supporters.”

Melania wouldn’t allow these haters to distract her from representing the United States on the world stage. Instead of whining about it, the First Lady simply chose other designers.

For the Inauguration, she wore a gorgeous blue Ralph Lauren dress that reminded many of Jackie Kennedy’s style. The designer’s company took great pride in dressing the First Lady for this momentous occasion.

“The Presidential Inauguration is a time for the United States to look our best to the world,” a Ralph Lauren statement said. “It was important to us to uphold and celebrate the tradition of creating iconic American style for this moment.”

Melania Trump favors wearing Dolce and Gabbana. The Italian designers have been dressing the retired supermodel for years and they love the honor of having the First Lady wear their designs. Dolce and Gabbana have hit back at critics who are calling for boycotts of their clothing since they dress Melania. They even took a swing a Miley Cyrus over such nonsense.

Melania proves that style and class trump hate. Our First Lady always puts her best foot forward and that’s a great thing for the United States!
