If you subscribe to the WWE Network, you know that WWE produces a lot more than just wrestling shows. The network has loads of original content. From reality shows (“Holy Foley!”) to variety shows (“The Edge and Christian Show That Totally Reeks of Awesomeness”) and even adult cartoons (“Camp WWE”). But the one thing the network doesn’t have is a game show.

However, it turns out they could have had a game show. Bubba Ray Dudley recently revealed on Twitter that he pitched an idea for a “Hollywood Squares” type show.

It’s unclear how long ago Dudley made this pitch or whether the idea has already been rejected, but it got me thinking about what other game shows WWE could have on the network. Here’s what I came up with.

Superstar Match Game

When it comes to classic game shows, nothing beats Match Game. The show has had many revivals, but the most well-known version aired on CBS from 1973 to 1979. For those not familiar, it’s mostly a game show version of Mad Libs wherein contestants try to match how the celebrity panelists will fill in the blank. The prompts were also often suggestive, and people likely tuned in just to see the celebrity hijinks. I can only imagine the hilarity that would ensue if there were a WWE version of Match Game featuring Superstars like The New Day, Braun Strowman, and the Fashion Police.

NXT MXC

Remember Most Extreme Elimination Challenge (MXC)? Remember how hilarious it was? Now imagine if there were a WWE version.

Aired on Spike TV from 2003 to 2007, MXC “re-purposed” footage from the Japanese game show Takeshi’s Castle and dubbed it with English, creating an entirely new premise, storyline, and characters. It was completely hokey, completely ridiculous, and completely entertaining, and I think WWE has tons of old footage that they could re-purpose in a similar way. Remember how the original version of NXT was a game show? And remember how horrible it was? Give that footage the MXC treatment, and I think WWE could have a severe hit on its hands.

The WWE Dating Game

Listen, pro wrestling is an insular business. We all already know that many WWE Superstars treat the locker room as their dating pool, so why not cash-in and turn it into a game show? I don’t know if I’d turn this into its standalone show, but I could see it as a segment on another show, like The Edge and Christian Show. And yes, I would watch.

Legends of the WWE Warehouse

WWE has a giant warehouse packed full of odd and iconic items, and the contents of that warehouse would lend itself perfectly to a WWE version of one of my all-time favorite childhood game shows, Legends of the Hidden Temple.

WWE could quickly set up a crazy obstacle course of some sort featuring memorabilia from decades past, with the Boogeyman waiting in the wings to jump out and grab unsuspecting contestants. The question is, what would be WWE’s version of that pesky silver monkey?
