Watch Bob Hope and James Cagney Show The Youngsters Of Today What Dancing Is!

They don’t make movies like they used to. You’d never see today’s movie stars dancing quite like Bob Hope and James Cagney did to “Yankee Doodle Dandy” in Seven Little Foys!

Both of these men were consummate entertainers. They were well-rounded performers who entertained us on many levels.

Bob Hope And James Cagney 1955 Dance Off

While not many people today may remember the 1955 Technicolor comedy film The Seven Little Foys, late greats Bob Hope and James Cagney certainly delivered a dance performance to remember.

Their epic dance off was to the tune “Yankee Doodle Dandy”. Which is a fun throwback and nod to the song’s writer George M. Cohan and their roles in the 1942 musical Yankee Doodle Dandy

Watch their incredible dance in the video below. You sure don’t see anything like this out of Hollywood these days!

Now, that folks is how it’s done!

Tap dance is a lost art form. These men had serious skill that young entertainers should study.

I mean really. One of today’s top stars is rapper Ice Spice – famous mostly for her dancing. And that dancing is the “twerking” craze which is little more than shaking a scantily-clad butt.

Take a look at today’s “dancing”:

Bob Hope And James Cagney Also Starred In Yankee Doodle Dandy

The musical Yankee Doodle Dandy featured a star-studded cast including Hollywood legends Bob Hope and James Cagney.

The story follows the rise of Broadway legend George M. Cohan played by Cagney. Acclaimed film critic Roger Ebert gave the film 4 stars in 1998.

Cohan was responsible for several well-known patriotic tunes including  “Yankee Doodle Dandy,” “You’re a Grand Old Flag” and “Over There.”

Most memorably, Cagney showed off his versatility in a song and dance medley of “Give my Regards to Broadway” and “Yankee Doodle Dandy”. Check it out!

Bob Hope Supports The Troops

“The Bob Hope Show” and his various television specials entertained America for years. But Hope was much more than just a tv star.

As a proud American, Bob Hope cared for our troops and took his routine on the road to entertain them through the USO.

For decades, he did USO shows for our deployed troops. He never forgot how much these men and women sacrificed for our freedoms!

He showed his gratitude by performing for them. Today’s A-Listers simply don’t do this like Bob Hope did!

If this story brought back fond memories, please share it!
