Miami Dolphins cheerleader

A former Miami Dolphins cheerleader has just filed a complaint against the team, and the NFL, claiming that she was discriminated against for being a Christian.

Fox News reported that Kristan Ware claims that during the three years she was a cheerleader with the Dolphins, the team held her to a different standard because she was a Christian woman. She alleges that cheerleading director Dorie Grogan mocked and disciplined her for posting a photo online showing herself being baptized.

Ware also says she was made fun of by cheerleading coaches for being a virgin and waiting until marriage to have sex. In fact, Grogan specifically told Ware to stop talking about her virginity at all.

“As far as we are concerned, you have taken something that was once upon a time pure and beautiful and you’ve made it dirty,” Grogan allegedly told her.

Ware claims that when she complained to the team’s human resources department in 2016, she was met with only ridicule and harassment.

“There is a sense of manipulation, where any time you raised a concern, it was like, ‘All we need is a pretty girl to wear the uniform. You’re completely replaceable, so if you have a problem with it, leave. 100 other girls want your spot,’” Ware said. “I want to make a positive difference where these girls can have their dreams come true with compromising who they are. The silence needs to end. The intimidation needs to end.”

Ware’s attorney Sara Blackwell explained that her client’s main goal with this lawsuit is not monetary damages.

“What we all really want is for the NFL to pay attention,” Blackwell said. “We want them to have us over and say, ‘Where are we going wrong, and how can we fix it?’ As an employment lawyer, it wouldn’t cost them a penny to make this a successful and wonderful program, where people could be proud and not be harassed and not be discriminated against.”

This is a perfect example of the discrimination and harassment Christians face in this country all the time these days. Though it’s considered wrong, or even racist to criticize other religions in any way, Christians always seem to be fair game. The left is always ready to defend Muslims from any kind of attack, yet Christian-bashing is considered to be fine in their minds. If we are ever to achieve religious equality in the U.S., Christians need to be treated with respect as well.
