Ronda Rousey is a full-time WWE wrestler. She’ll be on WWE’s European tour in May and will see some of her first singles action. While it seems she’s currently paired off with vet Natalya on Raw, the former UFC champ will be working with another industry stalwart in May. Former Women’s Champion and all-around legend, Mickie James.

This is perfect for Ronda. Mickie is a seasoned and respect veteran who will be able to take care of the inexperienced Rousey in the ring. Though I don’t know how much Ronda will need it. She held her own with Stephanie, and Triple H. Rousey’s WrestleMania match is already considered the greatest wrestling debut in history. I don’t know if there’s such a thing as a “natural” in pro-wrestling, but it is hard to argue that Ronda isn’t close to it.
It seems like this is confirmed, as Ronda and James had a confrontation on Monday Night Raw on April 25th.
WWE treats Ronda as a special attraction, as they should. So don’t expect her to wrestle some dark match on Raw anytime soon. I expect her next match will come at the Backlash PPV, possibly against Mickie James. It looked like Absolution would feud with Ronda and Nattie, but then Rose and Deville moved to Smackdown Live. The mid-term plan looks to be a feud with Natalya who embodies the old-school female vet. Natalya is already established as the “bitter vet” who stomps anyone trying to take her spot.
The longer-term plan seems to be building towards Charlotte vs. Rousey for the main event at WrestleMania next year in New York. This would be monumental and ground-breaking and would require some careful planning on WWE’s part. They’ll have to continue to groom and protect Rousey if they’re confident she can take such a gigantic spot.
