Last summer, we almost lost the Nature Boy Ric Flair. The multiple-time World Champion and greatest wrestler ever battled kidney and intestinal failure that had him in a medically induced coma and required part of his bowls to be removed. There was a time when we, and his family, believed that the Nature Boy was nearing the end. But Flair kicked out at 2 and made a mostly full recovery. But he isn’t out of the woods yet. He still uses a colostomy bag to help him remove waste from his body.

But according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer (subscription needed, but worth it), Flair is set to have another surgery in July that will help him recover further.

Ric Flair will have some very serious surgery on 7/9 related to his issues from last year and enabling to get rid of his colostomy bag. It’s very significant surgery. But he feels to go back to serious training he needs to have it done. He’s needed the bag since his life-saving surgeries from last year.

“needs to get back to serious training”

I hope Flair isn’t trying to get back in the ring. He is 69 years old. He has nothing left to prove. He is already the greatest of all time. But he is a driven man. He wants to be in the main event, he wants to be the best. It is that drive that took him to the top of the wrestling world but also forced him to use alcohol as a crutch. Flair admits that he is partying lifestyle led to this 2017 health scare. From this description, this surgery will involve repairing his lower intestine and give him back some intestinal functions he lost. We will keep you updated on this as we learn more.

Here’s hoping Nature Boy gets through it alright. We love you, Nature Boy!
