Gillberg vs. Ellsworth: The Greatest Match Of All Time

What’s your dream match? Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. CM Punk? Seth Rollins vs. Kenny Omega? Charlotte vs. Asuka?

Please. All those are small potatoes compared to the greatness that is, was, and forever will be James Ellsworth vs. Gillberg.

Pardon me, I didn’t write that correctly: World Inter-Gender Champion James Ellsworth vs. IWC High Stakes Champion Gillberg.

This glorious match was put on by International Wrestling Cartel (IWC) on March 17, otherwise known as St. Patrick’s Day. But IWC’s audience was far too busy getting drunk on the greatness within the ring to bother with watery green beer.

These two men are living legends. Gillberg: former WWF Light Heavyweight Champion and jobber extraordinaire. Ellsworth: the Chinless Wonder and Carmella’s former lackey. Wrestling fans should feel grateful that they had the pleasure to witness such a match-up in their lifetime.

Ellsworth managed to defeat Gillberg, a man he looked up to as a mentor and friend and captured the IWC High Stakes Championship to become a double champion. After his stunning victory, he took to Twitter and reflected on what great an accomplishment he’d made.

Gillberg, only one step below AJ Styles. In the words of Ellsworth, “Duh.”
