Trooper Cleared In Controversial Traffic Stop Video, But Questions Remain

Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Isaiah Lloyd is being sued by a woman he pulled over twice in the same day. Patricia Wilson is claiming Lloyd sexually harassed her during a controversial pat down.

The Campbell County District Attorney says the dashcam video of the August 16th traffic stops clears the law enforcement officer of wrongdoing, but Wilson is still seeking $100,000 in damages.

Lloyd first pulled Wilson over because she failed to wear a seatbelt while she was driving to her evening janitorial job. He can be heard asking her on the dashcam video if she is under the influence of any drugs. Wilson claims she was not. “No, I do no drugs, no nothing, swear to God,” she replied.

The trooper then has the woman put her hands on his patrol car while he checks her waistband area for a few seconds. He also asked her to shake out her bra to see if anything would fall out. Police officers have to be prepared for anything to happen during a traffic stop, so this is not that unusual.

After asking again about her drug use, Wilson informs the trooper that she uses Ambien occasionally to help her sleep. Lloyd then tells her that Ambien is a narcotic and that he needed to perform a field sobriety test. The DEA does not classify Ambien as a narcotic.

Three hours later, Lloyd stopped Wilson again while she was on her way home from work. This time she was with her two children. She was in the same truck, but Wilson claimed this time that her windows were illegally tinted. He also said she was “all over the road.”

During the second traffic stop, Wilson never exited her truck. There is no audio of this stop, but Wilson claims the Trooper told her, “We have to stop meeting like this.”

Lloyd was cleared of any wrongdoing by prosecutors, but others are still concerned about this officer’s actions after watching the dashcam video. What do you think?
