truck driver merge

We’ve all seen this happen.  A driver is hauling a big rig down the interstate and trying to work in a phone call when traffic starts darting in front of him to escape being held back by another truck. Sure it’s annoying to see plenty of other drivers simply not care about how they’re impacting the road but when that one car tries to pull something off, and it always does, the truck driver refuses to let it do so.

Such is the case with this trucker who claims to have not noticed the black Volkswagen trying to merge into his lane. Sure the car is technically ahead of the truck but there’s not nearly enough room for any sane person to think they’ll fit safely. Maybe the VW assumed the truck would back off and give space? Maybe the truck thought the driver of the VW would realize they shouldn’t try to run a truck off the road? It appears to us as though the truck driver saw the encroaching VW and chose to make a stand and to teach the VW driver a lesson.

The VW driver lost control but somehow avoided a huge accident and any injury. Maybe she was in the wrong trying to merge into that lane, but as a professional driver what he did is not justifiable. And the fact that he was on the phone doesn’t help make his case. Maybe he could have sounded his horn.  At least everyone was OK at the end of this crazy incident. Well, probably OK; we don’t really know if anyone had a heart attack just watching this.
