Chicago (2002) – Dancing was serious business for the actors

oscar winner facts

The actors in Chicago didn’t take their dancing lightly. Actor Richard Gere took tap dancing lessons for months in order to shoot his dancing scenes which took just a half a day to shoot.

Catherine Zeta-Jones was serious about her dancing too, and wanted to make sure the audience knew it. Director Rob Marshall wanted her to have long hair, but she insisted on a short bob cut because she was worried long hair might obscure her face, giving the audience reason to doubt that she did her own dancing.
