Meet The First Gerber Spokesbaby With Down Syndrome, Stealing Hearts Across The Nation!

Lucas Warren is only one year old, but the adorable boy from Dalton, Georgia has already made history with his award-winning smile.

He is the first child with Down Syndrome to be named a Gerber Baby. Lucas’s mom Cortney entered him in the contest on a whim. She chose a picture of Lucas and posted it on Instagram using the contest’s hashtag. Lucas has an infectious smile that his mom thought was worth sharing.

She was right! He was chosen out of 140,000 applicants. Lucas is the 2018 Gerber Spokesbaby. One look at his picture quickly explains why he was chosen. He is simply adorable and has a smile that could melt a million hearts!

His parents weren’t aware that he had Down Syndrome prior to his birth. They were concerned that he would be treated differently, but his happy personality apparently disarms naysayers. And now, he has the huge honor of being a Gerber baby.

Gerber choosing Lucas will hopefully raise awareness for Down Syndrome. Many people have a misconception about people with Down Syndrome, believing they cannot properly function in society. This is completely false. They have much to contribute to society.

Lucas went on “The Today Show” with his parents after winning the contest. His charm was on full display as he flashed his smile for the audience. After watching the video below, you’ll be charmed by Lucas as well!

What an absolute cutie! People with Down Syndrome are like God’s Prozac. Their happiness is contagious and undeniable. Lucas exemplifies this. I’m so happy to see that he is the 2018 Gerber Baby!

“We’re hoping this will impact everyone — that it will shed a little bit of light on the special needs community and help more individuals with special needs be accepted and not limited,” Lucas’ dad Jason said. “They have the potential to change the world, just like everybody else.”

Share this if you’re happy about Gerber choosing Lucas!
