UFC president Dana White was a guest on “UFC Tonight” Wednesday, offering up something of a State of the UFC address during the program.
White touched on a number of key fighters including former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar, CM Punk, ex-champion Jon Jones and more.
“Anything is possible,” he said. “Brock has always shown interest in coming and fighting here in the UFC. I wouldn’t be shocked if he gave it another shot.”
The 40-year-old Lesnar is the current Universal champion in the WWE. He returned after a five-year exit from MMA in 2016, defeating Mark Hunt at UFC 200. The decision, though, was overturned to a no-contest following a failed drug test.
Lesnar captured the UFC title in 2008 with a second round TKO over Randy Couture.
Former WWE wrestler-turned-MMA fighter CM Punk remains unsigned to a second fight, but White is still working to get him another deal.
“I don’t know if (UFC 225 in Chicago) is where he will fight,” White said. “He is healthy and interested. We’ll see what happens.”
Punk, a native of Chicago, would make for a key attraction to the card scheduled for June. It has been reported that he would face Mike Jackson, who is also 0-1 in his career like Punk – real name Phil Brooks.
Jon Jones remains in limbo in regards to his fighting career after a failed drug test last summer around his win over Daniel Cormier. Officials stripped him of the light heavyweight title once more after the decision.
“We’ll see how things play out for him,” White said. “I don’t know. I honestly don’t know (when he’ll return).”
Jones tested positive for turinabol and faces a lengthy suspension as a multi-time offender.
