UPDATED: Jey Uso Arrested For A DUI Over The Weekend In Texas

It looks like one of the Usos may spend some time in a penitentiary, just not the Uso kind. Hidalgo (TX) County Sheriffs arrested Jey Uso (real name Joshua Fatu) on Sunday, January 14th for Driving Under the Influence. He was allegedly released on a $500 bond, but we haven’t confirmed that.

There’s been no official word from WWE on this. While WWE does have a zero-tolerance policy for violent crime, it is unclear what WWE’s policy is regarding DUIs. Just last night, WWE promoted a chance to go to Universal Studios with the Usos and Naomi (wife of Jimmy Uso) one would think this wouldn’t have happened if WWE intended on punishing Jey for his DUI.

WWE prohibits the use of alcohol 12 hours before an event. Presumably, authorities arrested Jey Sunday evening after a live event in Hidalgo, Texas.

Could Jey Uso end up in jail?

Here are the Texas DUI laws. This seems to be Jey’s first offense so he will most likely just pay a fine:

“A First-Offense conviction will less than a .15 BAC includes the possibility of a fine not to exceed $2,000.00 and/or a jail sentence from 3 days to 180 days, and a driver’s license suspension of 90 to 365 days. (Class B Misdemeanor). Where, however, there is a BAC .15 or more, the possibility of a fine increases to $4,000 and jail increases to one year (Class A misdemeanor). First-time offenders who had a BAC of .08 to .14 may apply for a “non-disclosure” two years after your probation ends. But you must install an ignition interlock device on your vehicle and keep it for 6 months. A non-disclosure restricts who can see your criminal record. Ask your attorney for more information about this program.”

The Usos are current tag champs on Smackdown and will meet Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable for the titles at the Royal Rumble in a 2 out of 3 falls match.

It doesn’t look like the Usos are being immediately punished. They were on the January 16th episode of Smackdown.

Here is the statement from WWE.

“Joshua Fatu is responsible for his own personal actions. We are investigating the matter and awaiting information from local law enforcement officials.”
