If you were buzzed by recent reports that the UFC was planning a scrap between Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje, then you’ll be happy to hear the promotion’s announced it’s official.
Yes, the company has confirmed that Poirier and Gaethje will throw hands at its UFC on FOX card, April 14th. A venue for the event has yet to be determined.
Gaethje (18-1) is coming off a stoppage loss to Eddie Alvarez in December, which was one of the best fights of the year. That bout followed Gaethje’s TKO win over Michael Johnson in July, which many saw as the best scrap in 2017.
Poirier (22-5, 1 no contest) earned a submission win over Anthony Pettis in his last bout, which took place in November. That followed a no-contest ruling against Alvarez last May, when Poirier was unable to continue, due to an illegal knee to the head.
So, this is definitely a bout that’s going to be on a lot of must see lists.
