Kelly Clarkson is one of today’s most beloved singers. She’s relatable as she has been open about her battle with weight and her ultimate decision not to succumb to Hollywood pressure to be someone she is not. Of course, she has an amazing voice as well.
Kelly is also relatable to many of us through her parenting techniques. She has a young daughter and a toddler son. She also has two stepchildren, so she is very much in the throes of parenthood. In a recent radio interview, she said something that many of agree with, but it has made her a bit of a target from the leftwing parenting bully police.
Clarkson admitted to spanking her children as a form of punishment. “I’m not above a spanking, which people aren’t necessarily into,” the singer said in the interview. “And I don’t mean like hitting her hard, I just mean a spanking.”
Like many of us, Kelly Clarkson grew up understanding she would get a swat on the bottom if she got out of line. “My parents spanked me and I did fine in life and I feel fine about it,” she admitted. During her school years, Kelly’s mom even gave permission to the school to spank her if the situation warranted.
“I’m from the South, y’all, so we get spankings,” she explained. “My mom would call the principal if I ever ended up in the principal’s office and give permission for her to spank me … I’m a well-rounded individual with a lot of character, so I think it’s fine.”
Despite so much pressure not to spank, Clarkson continues her brand of parenting while needed out in public. “So that’s a tricky thing when you’re out in public, ’cause then people are like, you know, they think that’s wrong or something, but I find nothing wrong with a spanking,” she said. “I warn her. I’m like, ‘Hi, I’m gonna spank you on your bottom if you don’t stop right now. Like, this is ridiculous.’”
The left is obsessed with “choice,” but many liberals don’t believe parents should have spanking as an option. They believe a simple swat on the behind is abuse, as evidenced by the tweets below.
