Flashback: Donald Trump Bought, Sold, And Almost Ruined Monday Night Raw
On this day in history Donald Trump sold "Monday Night Raw" back to Vince McMahon -- at twice the price he bought it from him.
Today, Donald Trump is President of the United States. But long before he became the most powerful man in the world, he was the kayfabe owner of WWE Monday Night Raw.
When the Donald bought WWE’s flagship show from Vince McMahon on June 15, 2009, he vowed to present it 100% commercial free.
But, being the shrewd businessman that he is, Trump sold Raw right back to Vince the next week — at twice the price:
Of course, this was all just a storyline; but the WWE landed in the real hot water with the Securities and Exchange Commission because officials thought that Trump had actually bought Raw. In fact, WWE’s stock dropped 7% after the fake purchase.
Maybe that’s why Vince had him sell it back so quickly.
Trump went on to be inducted into the celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame, and he still has business with the McMahons; he tapped Linda McMahon to head up the Small Business Administration. And this time we assure you it’s all real.
