Alex Trebek Opens Up To Fans Following Life Threatening Medical Diagnosis!

Longtime “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek will be taking a break from the game show to recover from a serious health issue. Alex Trebek is stepping away from the podium as he recovers from surgery after taking a nasty fall a couple months ago. Trebek went to the hospital for surgery on December 15th.

Trebek attempted to downplay his injury by calling it “a slight medical problem,” but that slight medical problem is actually brain surgery. Last month, doctors discovered blood clots on the game show host’s brain. The condition is called subdural hematoma.

The 77-year-old host fell in October and doctors believe these blood clots were related to that fall. “Jeopardy!” posted a video of Trebek at his home announcing his brain surgery to fans. He said he was in the hospital for two days and is now recovering at home. He hopes to resume taping very soon.

Alex Trebek’s video announcement is below. He is wearing a baseball hat in the video and thanked everyone for their concerns as he recovers.

It is hard to imagine brain surgery being “a slight medical problem,” but I certainly hope that is the case for Trebek. Thankfully, he appears to be healthy in the video and is taking his health seriously.

“He is expected to make a full and complete recovery,” Sony Pictures Entertainment said. “Alex spent Christmas at home with his family, and he will return to the Jeopardy! studio for taping in mid-January.”

“Jeopardy!” shows are filmed months in advance, so the company has plenty of new shows to fill the void while the host of 33 years recovers from brain surgery. Apparently, the only change in programming will be a delay to the show’s College Tournament which will be held in April.

Share this story to send your prayers to Alex Trebek and his entire family!
