We’d like to extend our sincere condolences to NXT star and new tag champion Kyle O’Reilly, who lost his mother to the scourge of cancer. O’Reilly’s mother passed away last week. That was the same week that O’Reilly and teammate Bobby Fish won the NXT tag titles from SaNiTY.

O’Reilly isn’t the first WWE roster member to lose a loved one this year. Dana Brooke’s boyfriend died from an undisclosed illness over the summer. Former NXT tag champ and former Impact stalwart Eric Young lost his mother earlier this year as well.

Who is Kyle O’Reilly?

O’Reilly (real name Kyle Greenwood) is originally from British Columbia in Canada. He got his start there but then started in Ring of Honor in 2009. He won the ROH World Title but had equal success forming a tag-team with Bobby Fish, known on the independent scene as “ReDragon.” Fish and O’Reilly won tag gold in Ring of Honor and Japan. O’Reilly also tagged and eventually feuded with Undisputed Era leader Adam Cole in Ring of Honor and Pro Wrestling Guerilla, where he also won a world title.

O’Reilly is a rugby and mixed-martial arts practitioner. He has type-1 diabetes. He is a 12 year veteran of wrestling.

Please keep Kyle O’Reilly in your thoughts and prayers.
