Netflix series “GLOW” has been a big hit with fans and critics alike, but the show received its biggest nod of approval yet on Wednesday when it was nominated for four Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards, tying it for most nominations alongside HBO’s “Big Little Lies” and Netflix’s “Stranger Things.”

The series, which is based off the short-lived but beloved 80’s wrestling promotion Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, earned nods for Best TV Comedy Ensemble, Best TV Comedy Actress (Alison Brie), Best TV Comedy Actor (Marc Maron), and Best TV Stunt Team. That last nomination is particularly exciting, as former WCW, WWE, and TNA wrestler Chavo Guerrero Jr. is the show’s wrestling coach.

In a statement to WrestleZone following the nomination, Guerrero said that it was “a pretty big day for wrestling.”

To be included alongside such great shows like Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Stranger Things and Homeland. I guess it’s something I’ve been working for since I was three years old. Thank you to our cast for trusting us and thank you to our producers for giving us what we needed to succeed. Still bigger and better things to come.

He also thanked the cast and producers of “GLOW” on social media.

As a fan of “GLOW,” I couldn’t be happier with the show’s recognition. Sure, it might focus more on the emotional storylines of the characters rather than the wrestling itself, but the wrestling that’s featured is realistic and well done – as evidenced by the SAG award nomination.

It sure is a good time to be a wrestling fan.
