Ja Du, born as a white man named Adam, says he is truly a Filipino.
Ja Du claims an affinity for Filipino culture. “Whenever I’m around the music, around the food, I feel like I’m in my own skin,” he said.
He is concerned about people saying he is appropriating Filipino culture as he drives around in his Tuk Tuk, a traditional Filipino vehicle. He says being a Filipino is how he wants to express himself. “I think that we all have the freedoms to pursue happiness in our own ways,” he said.
