News Anchor Tries, And Fails, To Eat ‘World’s Hottest Chip’ On Live TV

Most people have seen or witnessed an extreme food challenge. In many of these challenges, an individual is tasked with eating a large amount of food or a difficult food, such as a hot pepper, without spitting it up!

Often times, these food challenges go extremely wrong and the person ends up failing to complete the task. While a food challenge may be difficult for the person attempting the feat, if one fails, it can be a hilarious sight for those witnessing the event.

Well, this week, a Denver news team tried to eat the “world’s hottest chip” on live TV and let’s just say, things went horribly wrong!

The morning anchors at KWGN were participating in Paqui’s #OneChipChallenge, an online contest that asked people to eat the brand’s spicy Carolina Reaper chip and post their reactions on Twitter and Instagram.

For one anchor, not only was she unable to eat the chip, but she proceeded to vomit under her desk on live television.

Check out the horrifying moment in the video below:

As you can see from the video, all the anchors have strong reactions to the chip, but Natalie Tysdal had the worst reaction, clutching the table and throwing up. Another anchor can clearly be heard telling his co-anchor, “Come on, eat the rest of the chip already.” Another co-host kindly made note of Natalie’s problem, informing everyone watching that “Natalie threw up” before telling the audience that “this is going very poorly, folks.”

Natalie eventually took to Facebook to explain the entire ordeal, including explaining how she foolishly thought drinking hot coffee would help the situation. ”

“I thought I was okay until I had a drink of my coffee to wash down the chip. I threw up, couldn’t breathe and felt like fire was coming out of my mouth, nose, and ears. I had a bottle of water, a glass of milk, a tablespoon of honey and 3 mints and still felt on fire. An hour later I had chills and a massive headache. Three hours have gone by and I feel like I was beat up in a dark alley. I wouldn’t recommend it.”

Had Natalie done some proper research, she would have known that milk is really the only thing one should drink after eating something spicy. Coffee or other drinks, including water, will only make the burning sensation in your mouth worse!

After watching this video, would you ever complete a food challenge? Share this as a cautionary tale to those wanting to try something like the One Chip Challenge!
