North Korea Warns: ‘Nuclear War May Break Out Any Moment’

As tensions between the United States, its allies, and North Korea continue to escalate, the hermit country made it clear that they will not engage in diplomatic talks until they’ve developed a ballistic missile capable of reaching “all the way to the East coast” of the U.S.

A North Korean official told CNN that while they are not ruling out diplomacy just yet, “before we can engage in diplomacy with the Trump administration, we want to send a clear message that the DPRK has a reliable defensive and offensive capability to counter any aggression from the United States.”

Furthermore, in a speech to the U.N. General Assembly’s disarmament committee on Monday, North Korea deputy U.N. ambassador Kim In-ryong said that the situation on the Korean Peninsula “has reached the touch-and-go point and a nuclear war may break out any moment.”

“The entire U.S. mainland is within our firing range and if the U.S. dares to invade our sacred territory even an inch it will not escape our severe punishment in any part of the globe,” he added.

Despite these ominous warnings, however, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson affirmed that the United States will not back down, saying diplomatic talks “will continue until the first bomb drops.”

Furthermore, North Korean defector Ri Jong-ho believes Kim could be bluffing about the country’s nuclear might. He told CNBC that electricity is in short supply in the DPRK, and they won’t survive another year under U.S. sanctions. Indeed, while Kim Jong-un likes to brag about North Korea’s nuclear power, it actually pales in comparison to countries like the United States and Russia.

This latest threat by North Korea should not be taken lightly, and clearly shows that the situation has reached a new, dangerous level!
