Former Divas Champion Kaitlyn has been making a lot of positive changes in her life since her divorce from bodybuilder PJ Braun, and on Tuesday she opened up about her battle with drug addiction.
In a candid Instagram post, Kaitlyn – real name Celeste Bonin – revealed, “It’s been one year since I checked myself into the hospital for a medical drug detox.” She goes on to explain that, after checking out of the hospital “with a medical taper plan of meds,” she celebrated her 30th birthday five days later and remembers “wanting to die.”
For many pro wrestlers, this is an unfortunately familiar story. In August, WWE Superstar Mike Kanellis also revealed on Instagram that he had recently battled an addiction to prescription drugs. Countless other wrestlers — like Shawn Michaels, Scott Hall, Jake “The Snake” Roberts, and Diamond Dallas Page, just to name a few — have also famously battled addiction.
Obviously, Kaitlyn was right to seek help and brave to open up about her battle. Our thoughts are with her as she continues down her road to recovery.
