Woman steals police car

A Texas woman proved herself to be a bit of a Houdini. Toscha Fay Sponsler was cuffed and put in the back of a police car on suspicion of shoplifting at an Ulta beauty store when the unthinkable happened.

She managed to free herself from her handcuffs and carjack the patrol car. It was all caught on camera from inside the car and on the officers’ body cameras. Sponsler ended up leading police on a 100 mph chase before losing control of the car. She also was seen trying to grab the gun inside the car, which is mechanically locked.

You can see the wild video below.

Sponsler is facing a lot more trouble than the original shoplifting charges. She now has to contend with felony counts of threat of a deadly weapon, aggravated assault, unauthorized use of a vehicle, possession of meth, and evading arrest.

This could have ended very differently if officers were injured. Thankfully, that was not the case. Sponsler even refused medical treatment. She is currently in jail on $18,000 bond.
