It has been 12 years since Natalee Holloway went missing during a high school trip to Aruba. Since her disappearance, her father Dave hasn’t stopped looking.
The whole country seemed captivated and concerned with Natalee’s disappearance as every attempt to find her fell flat. Now, Dave Holloway has a short series on Oxygen that shows him on the hunt to piece together clues about what happened to his daughter.
Jessica Caoila was on that trip with Natalee and she was one of the last people to see Natalee alive. They had spent the evening at a local bar called Carlos ‘n Charlies. Caoila remembers Joran van der Sloot being there as well.
Joran has long been suspected in Natalee’s disappearance and likely murder but was never held accountable. Many believe he escaped justice because his father was a judge. He is in a Peruvian jail for the murder of another woman in that country.
In the video below, Jessica describes seeing Natalee in a white car. She assumed that Natalee got a ride back to the hotel. It wasn’t until the next morning when it was time to leave that they discovered Natalee went missing after getting in that car.
Natalee said Joran was seen a few times during the class trip. “I remember seeing Joran van der Sloot at the casino at our hotel,” she said. “That was the first time I saw him and I remember chatter of him, like, ‘He’s so cute. Who’s going to hook up with him?’ Those sort of things were floating around. That was probably the extent to which I got close to him.”
Dave Holloway announced on the Today show last week they may have found Natalee’s remains. These new discoveries may have broken open this case.
Natalee will not be coming home but hopefully, her family can have some closure and perhaps her killer can be brought to justice.
