Over the weekend, Joel Osteen’s megachurch outside Houston was unable to serve individuals stranded during Hurricane Harvey.

Osteen’s Lakewood Church posted on its Facebook page that due to flooding, the church would be closed for the time being.

Immediately following the church’s announcement, liberals falsely accused Osteen of shutting his church doors to those in need.

Several people on Twitter blasted Osteen, accusing him of closing his doors for no reason.

Following the vicious attacks on Osteen and his church, Lakewood Church sent CBS News a series of images showing the extent to which flooding had damaged their building during the hurricane.

Even though the attacks on Osteen were completely unjustified, it took the church leader two days to respond to the attacks, allowing the fake story to spread.

The delay in combating this fake news story has severely damaged Osteen, as he is now viewed by many as a selfish un-Christian individual.

Military veteran Wayne Dupree has weighed in on the situation, arguing that Osteen needs to quickly fix this problem, so the damage to his church’s reputation can be mitigated.
