Baseball Legend Don Baylor Dies At 68

Baseball fans are mourning the passing of a legend. Don Baylor died after a long battle with multiple myeloma. He was 68-years-old.

The 1979 American League Most Valuable Player, who played nineteen seasons for six teams and managed two, died at St. David’s South Hospital in Austin, Texas early Monday morning.

Baylor had the distinct honor of playing in three consecutive World Series with three different teams. In 1986, he was with the Boston Red Sox. In 1987, he played with the Minnesota Twins and in 1988, he returned to the World Series with the Oakland A’s.

After retiring from playing, the slugger, who was a designated hitter and outfielder, became the first manager of Colorado Rockies before going on to manage the Chicago Cubs.

In addition to being a legendary baseball player and manager, Baylor is remembered as a great man who encouraged many young players to get involved with baseball.
