Paulie Malignaggi has said that Conor McGregor’s team is twisting how their sparring went, and that he outscored the UFC champ for the most part, but Dana White says that’s not the case.

In the last couple of weeks, Malignaggi has constantly been in the headlines, as a result of his fallout with McGregor. The latter brought Malignaggi in to help him train for his August 26th  bout with Floyd Mayweather. But, Malignaggi left after a picture was shared on social media that showed him on the canvas. The New York fighter denied that he had been knocked down, and Malignaggi has continued to say that, since footage of that moment was released by White.

Well, as things between Malignaggi and McGregor have continued to go south, White appeared on Randomer Sports. Of course, the UFC boss man was asked for his take on the second sparring session between Malignaggi and McGregor, and here’s some of what White had to say (quotes via MMA Mania):

“What am I, Steven Spielberg?” White asked, while responding to the argument that the video of McGregor – Malignaggi was edited to favor the UFC champ. “It’s footage of the actual sparring. Let me tell you what, I was there for all 12 rounds, and Paulie has said some crazy things, some bad things about me — I feel sorry for the guy because it was a one-way beating.”

“A lot of people were saying Conor couldn’t box, and Paulie was obviously lying about everything he said about the sparring match, so I released it.”

“It was very one-sided, it was an absolute beating. And guess what? I think it was the right thing for Paulie Malignaggi to definitely leave for his health’s sake.”

Of course, critics of White or McGregor will likely argue that of course the UFC President is going to say this. After all, McGregor is about to box one of the greatest fighters ever in Mayweather. The more people who think McGregor has a shot at an upset, the more pay-per-view buys will take place.

But, on the other hand, it should be noted that White hasn’t said McGregor will defeat Mayweather. He’s only said the lightweight has a chance.
